He is survived by: his wife Linda Mathews; his children, Bennie Mathews Jr., Kenauth Mathews and Tanikka West; his grandson Kendrick Berry; his daughters, Jerrice Thompson, Kathy Williams, Jackie Howard and Tamantha Christopher; and his siblings, James Nave Sr. (Wendy), Bozzie Phelps (Opal), Charles Rowe (Sandra), Willa Mae Logan, Evelyn Bryant and Ramona Powell. He is also survived by other family members and many friends.
