He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harvey and Eva Velma Smith (Johnston); his wife Janet Elizabeth Varner; and his siblings-in-law, Frank Varner and Glenda Varner.
He is survived by: his nephew Harold Varner of Dallas, Texas; and his nieces, Kimberly Dortch of Sunnyvale and Nicole Varner of Mesquite, Texas. He is also survived by cousins, other family, and friends.
