He was predeceased by: his parents, William Owens and Helen Marie Owens; and his wife Mary Owens. He is survived by: his brother Jerry Owens; his daughter Ashley Wansick; his stepchildren, Dana Payden, David Epperson, Frank Bratcher, Joel Bratcher and Pat Bratcher; his grandchildren, Stephanie Nelson (Justin), Christina Burgess (David), Sean Payden (Braquel), Amber Payden (Jadon), Jaycee Wansick, Logan Thompson and Geoffrey Epperson; and his great grandchildren, Hadley Payden and Kaizer Adams.
