He was predeceased by: his parents, John Walter Mahan and Thelma Louise Hutson; his sister Alice Faye DeLay; his stepbrother Bobby Bankston; and his grandson Hudson J Henry Mahan.
He is survived by: his former wife Evelyn J. Hopkins; his sons, John "Johnny" Walter Mahan and Mark Darren Mahan; his wife Cheryl; his stepbrother Bill "Bud" Price; and his grandchildren, Kelby and Townsend Mahan.
