He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Helen Turner Spannagel; his parents, Robbie Minnie Crow and Russell Edison Spannagel Sr.; and his siblings, Edna Mae Fowler, Lawrence E., Russell and Bill.
He is survived by: his children, Pam (Norman) of Plano and Dean (Pam) of Conroe; his grandchildren, Robert Spannagel (Erika), Katye Spannagel (Robert Black) of Spring, Taylor Thompson and Turner Thompson of Plano; his great grandchild Olivia of Spring; and his siblings, Phyllis Sandlin of Dripping Springs, Kenneth of Lytle and Patrick of San Antonio.
