He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Whitfield and Beulah Whitfield; his wife Pat Whitfield; and his siblings, Richard Whitfield of Lucille Klepper, H. T and Nelce Lancaster Whitfield.

He is survived by: his son Michael; his daughter-in-law Mary Brett Whitfield of Columbus, Ohio; his grandsons, Max Whitfield of Chicago and Kevin Whitfield of Denver; and his sister Hazel Yoakum.
