Donald Gene Palmer Obituary
Donnie Palmer, age 74, of Okla. City passed away Friday, August 16, 2024, at Integris Southwest Medical Center. Donald Gene Palmer was born April 5, 1950, in Artesia, California, a twin and the 3rd of 4 children born to Billy Lavaughn Palmer and Ruby Lee (Sosebee) Palmer. Donnie spent his early years in California, where he began school before moving to Hawaii. He graduated high school from Lahaina Luna on the island of Maui with the Class of 1968. After moving to Greenville, South Carolina, he met and married Beverly Wilkins, and they had one son, Kevin. At this time, Donnie began working in construction. He answered the call in service to his country and joined the United States Air Force but was medically discharged. After his discharge, he returned to civilian life, and he and Beverly eventually decided to go their separate ways. He continued working in construction, and by chance, he worked in Oak Valley, Kansas. It was here that he met the love of his life, Cynthia Clark, and the rest, as they say, is history. They lived in various places in Central Oklahoma, Hawaii, Texas and Tennessee before returning home to Oklahoma City in 1995. Throughout this period, they welcomed three more sons, Jason, James and Bryan, and their family was complete. Donnie worked in residential maintenance until he no longer could due to his health. Away from work, he enjoyed fishing and tinkering with cars. In his younger years, he enjoyed surfing and spending time at the beach but traded that for tending to his yard in his later years. He cherished Cindy and his boys and was never happier than when he became a grandfather. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Ruby Palmer and brothers, Glenn Palmer and Ronnie Palmer.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cindy Palmer, of the home; his boys, Kevin Palmer of Canyon Lake, TX; and Jason Palmer of Okla. City, James Palmer of Okla. City and Bryan Palmer of Okla. City; sister, Billie Brasier and husband Don of Lexington; his pride and joy, grandchildren, Luella, Starling, Presleigh and Paige, and many other family and friends.
The family will plan a Private Celebration. http://www.wilsonlittle.com.
