He was predeceased by: his father Ernest L. Porter; and his brother Shawn Leroy Porter. He is survived by: his mother Zola Gale Porter (Hallock); his brother Ross Lee Porter; his sister-in-law Kim Porter; his child Leslie Porter; his daughters-in-law, Jackie Porter and Pam Porter; his grandchildren, Kain, Kasidy, Kaylee, Addison and Anthony; his niece Jacquelyn Porter; his nephew Austin Porter; his stepchildren, Cutter Huddleston and Summer Huddleston; his spouse Hallie "Elaine" Estep; his children, Derek Holt and Dalton James; and also, Derek and Dalton Porter.

Brent was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in May of 2013.
