He was predeceased by: his parents, James Virgil Hawkins Sr. and Mary Helen Hawkins (Stanley); his wife Loweta; his daughter Debra Daugherty; and his friend H. D. Mills.
He is survived by: his children, James Hawkins (Denise) of Haughton, Louisiana, Carol Matheny of Granbury and Linda Lafayette of Chesterfield, Virginia; his siblings, Bill Hawkins (Sally) of Overland Park, Kansas and Mary McClung (Jim) of Winfield, Kansas; his friend Joyce Mills; and his great grandchild Jim. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren.
