Linda Billings (Thompson) Smith Obituary
Linda Cecelia Thompson was the youngest of seven children to be born into the loving union of Willie Mae (Parker) and Relford "Bear" Thompson, Sr. Linda has always been the person to light up a room when she entered because she was the life of the party. At a young age she gave her life to Christ and was member of Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She had a deep love for riding horses. Linda graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School and went on to further her education at Indian Capitol Vo-Tech where she earned her CNA license. She became a home health provider because she saw a need of giving good and genuine care to people who could not do it by themselves. She served her clients with care and dedication until her health no longer allowed.
Linda started her family with her first-born son Donald "Everette" Billings, Jr. He held a special place in her heart because he was her first blessing to show her the joys of motherhood. God then blessed her with another protector, her second born son, Althronzo "Tuddy" Billings. She beamed with pride because of the two men that she was entrusted with. She moved to Wichita, KS a few years later and that is where her family was completed with the birth of her baby girl, Sheraton "Twiggy" James. Linda was proud of all three of her children. She was always there when they needed her whether big or small, near or far. Linda thought her life could not get any better, but her family expanded, and she became Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Mae and Relford Thompson, Sr.; her infant sister, Carolyn; and brothers, Relford Jr., Alfred and Richard Thompson.
She will be missed by so many and leaves to cherish her memory her sons Everette Billings, Jr. and Altharanzo (Kristy) Billings; her daughter, Sheraton James; her sisters, Doris "Betsy" Mackey and Barbara Moore; her husband, Kent Smith; her 10 grandchildren; Jordyn, Jasmine, Garod, Amaree, Myiesha, Maresha, Perrielle (Shontay), Daivon, Skyla and Izaya; her 4 great-grandchildren; Kamari, Kamani, Nadia and Giovonni; her aunt, Gerldine Craig and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
