He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jay Matthews and Lucy Matthews; his son Joe Anthony; his wife Pauline; his sons, Jay Matthews (Beau) of Muskogee and Jeffery Matthews (Amalie); his granddaughters, Lucy and Kathryn of Tyler, Texas; his brothers, J. L. Matthews (Sharon) of Checotah, Roy Matthews (Donna) of Checotah and Jack Matthews of Porum, Oklahoma; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Mangrum of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Wayne Emanuel of Birmingham, Alabama.. He was also cherished by his extended family and friends.
