He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. Gardner and Verlee Carpenter Gardner. He is survived by: his daughter Traci; his son-in-law Matt Jackson of Olathe, Kansas; his daughter Summer; his son-in-law Wayne Walker of Ponca City, Oklahoma; his siblings, Ann and Neal Gardner of Newkirk; his nieces, Julie and Elissa; his great-nephews, Jake, Gage, Powell Frickenschmidt and James Neitzel; and his great-niece Annie Verlee Neitzel.
