He was predeceased by: his parent Renas Wilson Stangeland; his wife Thelma Juanita; his daughter Jan Cherry; his siblings, Alan Stangeland, Ruth Grayson, Shirley Riggs and Wilma Sanders; and his father Leonard Stangeland.

He is survived by: his sons, Ron Stangeland (Lindi) of Edmond, OK and Geron Stangeland (Becky Stangeland); and his son-in-law John Cherry of Ponca City, OK..
