He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Allen and Pearl A. Allen (Harrison); and his wife Jeannie M. Allen (McClung). He is survived by: his children, John R. Allen, Mary M. Gabbard (Allen) and Michael T. Allen. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and two sisters.
