“Jean and I spoke now and then about how we were more like siblings than cousins. She was the sister that I did not have in life. She and I have had to visit only by phone for the past several years as neither could travel. I watched her live with more pain than I thought possible for one person to endure outside of a medical institution. I shall miss her. But I am happy for her to not be in pain any longer.
