He was predeceased by: his parents, William Martin Gatton and Betty Gatton (Wheeler); and his sister Stephanie Gatton. He is survived by: his wife Rose Mary Gatton; his sons, Paul Gatton (Kristi), Stephen Gatton (Jennifer) and Daniel Gatton (Kasey); his grandchildren, Cole Gatton, Alex Gatton (Desiree), Stephanie Gatton and Grace Gatton; and his great grandchildren, Max Gatton and Olive Gatton.
