He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerhart F. Martens and Verona A. Martens (Knierim); his siblings, Joyce Krueger and Dean Martens; and his great grandchild Maggie Zaiger.
He is survived by: his former wife Grace Martens (Johnson); his wife Gerry Martens (West); his children, Jon Martens (Diane) of Atlantic, IA, Janet Reed (Ron) of Wiota, IA and Mark (Christy); and his siblings, Phyllis Ekstrand of Evanston, IL, Carol Lee of Middleton, WI and George Martens of Ames, IA.
The family request that memorial contributions be made in Bob's memory to St. Henry Catholic Church or American Heart Association.
