He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eugene E. Sword and Minnie Viola Sword (Wilson); his former wife Ruby "Allene" Thompson; his wife Patricia Self (Williams) of Owasso; his children, LaVonda Duff of Claremore, Teresa Haakinson (Derek) of Afton, Lacreta Richardson of Afton, Frank Allen Sword of Florida and Darryl Sword of Broken Arrow; his granddaughter Ashley Sword; and his son-in-law Larry Duff. He was also cherished by 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
