He was predeceased by: his parents, Oswald Hess and Sarah Marie McClaflin Hess; his wife Glynis Hess; and his siblings, Armester Hess, James Hess, Walter Hess and Augusta Hess.

He is survived by: his children, Debbie Rhein (John Tina Hess), Jerry Hess, Nancy Dowd (Monte), Kenny Hess, Steve Hess (Mickie), Jeff Hess (Vickie) and Butch Hess (Kathy); and his brother Glenn Hess. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren.
