He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Smith and May Smith; and his siblings, Eurvin, Robert, Barbara, Audrey and Carol.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Yvonne Davis; his daughter Sheila (John Gardner); his grandchildren, Karen Boydstun, Krista Taylor (Kyle Taylor), Alyssa Esslin, John Gardner III (Sadie Gardner), Paul Boydstun, Brandon Boydstun, Jared Boydstun, Justin Boydstun, Jason Boydstun and Andrew Boydstun; his great grandchildren, Isla Esslin, Avery Taylor and Daisy Gardner; and his sister Lillian Hale.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Sherwood Baptist Church (3313 NW 32nd St, Newcastle, OK 73065). A burial will be held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hanna Cemetery.
