He was predeceased by: his parents, Nellie Been (Lewis) and Arthur Lee Been; his siblings, Otis, Harold, Arthur, Opal Ruby Mae Allen, Ruby Lee Hovis and Mildred Dancer; his former wife Mary Ruth (Johnson); his daughter Shirley Chambers; and his great grandchild Brandy Jawter.

He is survived by: his wife Suzette Been; his son Larry Been (AraCeli) of Dallas, TX; his stepsons, Dashawn Jackson (Lakendra) of Irving, TX and Azizi Bilal of Brooklyn, NY; and his grandson Billy Wayne Honeycutt Jr.. He is also survived by six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, loved ones, and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens (500 SW 104th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73139). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
