He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Diana Clay; his daughter Riley Clay; his mother Velma Clay of Claremore; his brother Joseph Clay; his nephew Jesse Clay of Claremore; his parents-in-law, Elmer and Patsy Duty of Sand Springs; his brother-in-law Rick Duty (Patti); his nephews, Trevor, Toby of Sand Springs and Justin Duty (Sarah) of Claremore; his close friends, Randy Benton, Nathan Dickson, Paul Hixson, Jim Deck, Brek Henry, Spencer Grace, Jeff Brown, Paul Welch and Jesse Monroe; his grandparents, Marvin and Imogene McDaniel; his uncles, Leroy and Jerry McDaniel; his cousin Adam McDaniel; and his aunt Lou. He was also cherished by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and co-workers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to David's daughter, Riley Clay, for her future expenses.
