He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Leon Whitmire Sr. and Josephine Beatrice Thorton Whitmire; and his sisters, Wynona Hogner, Polly Dacy and Agnes Chaney.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Whitmire (Marrs); his children, Dana Robinson (Cary) of Nowata, One, Chance Whitmire (Michael McMurtrey) of New York and Genene Cheatham (Jeff) of LaPine; his grandchildren, Tristan Robinson of Nowata, One and Cherokee Geeo (Dalton) of Nowata; his great grandchildren, Cooper and Ryder; and his sisters, Rebecca Worthington, Ellouise Whitmire of Tulsa and Euphamia Thompson of Jenks. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations, in Sonny's name, be made to Nowata EMS.
