She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Shankles and Edith Shankles (Barfield); and her siblings, Billy Shankles and Dorothy Shankles. She is survived by: her husband Marion Hicks; her children, Nolen Hicks (Donna) of Jimtown and Marilyn Emerson (Eddie) of Montgomery, TX; her grandchildren, James Hicks (LeeAnn), Jeff Hicks, Vanessa Newman (Gregory) and Cody Emerson (Katy); her great grandchildren, Alek Hicks (Chelsea), Tyler Hicks, Hagen Hicks, Madysen Hicks, Tarah Riggs, Caden Hicks, Ashtyn Newman, Urijah Newman, Christopher Hicks, Braden Newman and Bentley Hicks; her great great grandchildren, Kyler Hicks, Blakelynn Hicks and Baby Reese; her niece Rhonda Fox; and her nephew Rod Shankles (Melissa).
Vonqueta and Marion were also both recognized in 2020 as the Frontier Days King and Queen, however due to COVID, the event was canceled.
