He was predeceased by: his parents, Connie Bell Smith (Young) and Olaus Ralph Smith; his children, April, Kimberly and Tommy; and his sister Sylvia.

He is survived by: his wife Vickie; his children, Andrew of Norman and Julie Barksdale of Norman; his grandson Sheldon Barksdale; his great grandchild Brystol; and his sister Rachel Howlett of Santa Rosa, California..
