He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Murphy (Harshberger) and Norman Murphy; and his brother Michael Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Janie Woodrow; his son Chad; his daughter-in-law Paige; his granddaughters, Baylor and Blair; his siblings, Gary Murphy (Paula) and Suan Carroll (John); his sister-in-law JoNell Grissom; and his cousin Julia Ann Guy. He is also survived by thirty-nine nieces and nephews; forty-three great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
