He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldon Johnston and Irene Johnston; his siblings, Leona Harrell, Imogene Manning, Richard "Dickie" Johnston and Joe Hall; and his close friend Loretta Herring.
He is survived by: his wife Susie Lee Lacefield; his children, Wilma Davis and Kirk Johnston (Shannon Roye Johnston); his sisters-in-law, Aileen Hall and Linda Johnston; his grandchildren, Brody Johnston, Tucker Johnston, Shawn Wier, Treyson Wier, Christopher Wier, Anthony Johnson, Dustin Davis (Katy) and Cody Davis; and his great grandchildren, Meredith, Cassie, James and Charlotte.
