He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Rueter; his parents, John Kraus (Frances Kraus) and Frances Kraus; and his siblings, Walt, Francis, Clarence, Franklin Kraus and Lucille Rund.
He is survived by: his children, Carol Barber (Dan Snare), Robert Kraus Jr. (Patti), Janice Vaughn (Les), Pat Kraus and Mike Kraus (Regina); and his siblings, Edward, John Kraus (Jeannie) and Betty Ivie. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
