He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Bonnie Oates and Irene Oates; his wife Glenda Scott Oates of Mustang; his daughters, Dian Crawford of Seattle and Jennifer Oates of New York City; and his sister Ellen Sue Johnson of Gotebo, Oklahoma. He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
