He was predeceased by: his mother Evelyn Bearking; and his brothers, Richard Kingston, Paul Chavez and Robert Chavez. He is survived by: his wife Becky; his sister-in-law Patty (David Acree); his children, James Anthony "Sonny" Essert Jr., Vania Schontasy Bearking Essert, Josiah Nathanael Bearking Essert and Robin Guthrie; his grandchildren, Nehemiah Ellison Bearking Mickelson, Zao Grant Bearking Mickelson, Darci Peterson, Hayden Madewell and Hunter Guthrie; and his great grandchildren, Avree, Aspen and Heidi Jo Madewell.
A burial was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Rose Hill Cemetery (1558 C St SE, Ardmore, OK 73401).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor Jim's name to the BCC Student Fund for Ozark Christian College.
