He was predeceased by: his parent Willa Bates; and his brother Gerald Bates. He is survived by: his wife Vicki; his daughter Wendi Bates; his son-in-law Dale Pilcher; his son Brian; his daughter-in-law Jessica Bates; and his grandchildren, Grayson and Ella.
