He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Agnes Phillips (Sams) and Leon Richard Phillips. He is survived by: his daughters, Sharon Moore (Mathew), Jessica Conner (Colby), Nila Godwin (J. R.) and Kim Beaver (Clayton); his grandchildren, Monica, Mathew II, Tyler, Preston, Emily, Sara, Brooklyn, Malaci of Heaven, J. D., Faith and Rory; his great grandchildren, Blakely, Mathew III, Luke, Remington, Malaci II, Rogan, Colson and Bodhi; and his siblings, Rick Phillips of Farmersville, CA, Debbie Whitted of Colorado and Carla Bradley of Texas. He is also survived by several other relatives and friends.
