Brie Bryant wrote a sympathy message

“Matthew, I don't know how to articulate what you have been to me. You became my brother when we were too young to feel any self-consciousness about our new roles in each others lives. We had the rare gift of having someone our own age to play and grow with just a few feet away. We went to preschool and started kindergarten together, learned to tie our shoes, ride our bikes without training wheels, attempt cooking (oh my GOD, we sucked. Did you ever work that out? I didn't.)You were always there.”

Brie Bryant wrote a comment

“Now you aren't, and though it has been a long time since I have seen you, I feel that loss. You were such a huge part of my life at that fundamental time of growth, learning, and exploration - the time when we were learning the world and ourselves - that I feel unbalanced knowing that you aren't there as a counterweight to me anymore. I have so many memories, starting with a yellow rose to precede our first meeting to "sharptooths" and mud (SO. MUCH. MUD), obstacle courses, cheesebread rings, UNO, chess, kittens...”

Brie Bryant wrote a comment

“...really boring Sunday afternoons every other weekend, constantly chasing down and cleaning up after Tornado Tishie, you always being the one across from me at the table...there is so much I remember. So many beginnings. I remember when you started fishing. I remember when you started wearing hats everywhere. I remember when you busted you head open. Again. And AGAIN. I remember when you broke your tooth. Again. And AGAIN. I remember how bored I was when you had the chicken pox.”

Brie Bryant wrote a comment

“I remember family dinners at that one Chinese buffet in the mall right next to the nail salon - those dinners were some of my favorites. I remember all the trips to Wal-Mart when it was still a part of the mall. I remember all the trips to Lowes as a family (what were they even LOOKING at all those times?) I remember you liked butter pecan ice-cream from Braums (Mint. Chocolate. Chip. My Dude.). I remember peaceful trips to parks and the occasional swim in the lake. I remember the LONG drives back and forth to Michigan crammed together in the backseat...”

Brie Bryant wrote a comment

“...and pants flapping in the wind that one time. The snow on your lap that other time. I remember you were there when I suffered the first two greatest losses of my life (you are the third, but... maybe you are here in spirit one last time for old times sake?) I remember so many things that I have filled pages and pages. Because I realized that there are so many things that only I remember now. If I forget them, they are gone...”

Brie Bryant wrote a comment

“...because you are gone, and you were the one to experience them with me. That is a very hollowing feeling. I will remember you, as I remember myself. You are and will always be a part of me. You are my brother. Then. Now. Always. I appreciate you. Then. Now. Always. And I love you. Then. Now. ALWAYS. Rest for now. I will see you after.”

Pamela Maitland wrote a sympathy message

“In living memory of Matthew Bloom. He was a loving son, father, brother, friend and husband, you will truly missed by everyone. He loved to fish, spend time with his family, Brie and him were the best of friends growing up playing outside, he would help anyone who needed it with anything. He loved his kids more then words can say. He is gone way to soon and have left holes in hearts of everyone who knew him and loved him. Tishie , Brie and myself will always love, miss him Pam”

And it started that night I was drinking alone&you sent me labor laws because wehner was withholding my pay. You came to drive me home after only knowing me a week because I was to drunk. You didn’t have to. But thank you Matt.”
