It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyan Rice Mehring of Moore, Oklahoma, who passed away on January 6, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Joyan Rice departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Joyan Rice may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Joyan Rice leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alden Smith Rice and Anna DeLeath Hodges Rice; her brothers, Bud and George Rice; and her great grandchild Addison Taylor.
She is survived by: her husband Rodney Mehring; her children, Rodney Jr. (Christine), Annalisa Millett (Daniel) of Pahrump, NV, Eldon of Moore, OK and Tia Lawton (Glen) of Topeka, KS; and her sister Gaylene Moon (Jerald) of Boise, ID. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (12915 S Santa Fe Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73170). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Fort Sill National Cemetery (2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd, Elgin, OK 73538).
