He is survived by: his wife Alice Ruth; his children, Connie Dawson, James Dawson (Linda) of Oklahoma City and Mark Dawson (Jennifer) of Austin; his grandchildren, Sarah Bryant (Jeremy), Emily Mestas (Eddie), Drew Herron (Melissa), Dylan, Jamie Dawson, Sophia, Grace and Charlotte Dawson; his great grandchildren, Aiden Bryant, Garrison, Braxton, Kennedy Mestas, Avery and Ben Herron; his brother Stanley Dawson (Linda); and also Dwight Herron of Newcastle, Oklahoma. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
