She was predeceased by: her husband Joe Gootee; her sisters, Orvilla Mae Powers and Lucille Clinton; and her grandchildren, Erica Chanel Ward, Andrea Denise Carter, Jonathan Gootee and Shannon McAlister.
She is survived by: her children, Kenneth Keith Ward (Charlene), Andrea June McAlister (Phillip) and Arnold David Carter, Jr.; her stepchildren, Stanley Gootee (Marilyn), Norman Gootee and June Anderson; and her siblings, Lois, Ralph and Eugene. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.
