Georgette Jurczewsky wrote a sympathy message

“It was my blessing to be Betty’s Oncology nurse and friend. She was my sunshine when I was diagnosed with cancer and shared chemo space as we received treatment. I will miss her sweet smile and positive attitude. Today I celebrate her wonderful life and many accomplishments.”

Evon Burk wrote a sympathy message

“Goodbye for now my sweet, funny, thoughtful, caring, and well...just a wonderful friend. One of (if not the most) bravest people I've ever known. I met Betty thru our mutual friend Amy Anderson - whom I believe Betty has now met up with again as well as her sweet husband. I pray that her children and family are at peace with this - although I know even at peace you still suffer the loss (as do I). I wish I had magic words of more comfort - just know that you are not alone in your grief. I'll miss her dearly. Love, Evon Burk”

Robert Pailthorpe wrote a sympathy message

“Betty was my adopted mom... we have known each other for over 22 years.. and I deeply loved her. One of my happiest memories is an April's Fools Day joke that my boss (LT Alvin Plexico) and I played on her. Essentially, we tricked her into thinking a Navy VIP trip had been moved up and was departing within 24 hours... Betty went into panic mode trying to reschedule events for 30 some dignitaries before we cut her in... at the time, she didn't find any humor in our joke whatsoever. In the years after, every April 1st, she would email Flex and me reminding us of "the best ever joke" pulled on her by her two sons. I will miss that email this year. Fair winds and following seas my dear, dear friend! My life and family is richer for having known you and James. Love XO, JOC Robb Pailthorpe, Elberon, Iowa.”
