He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul E. Simpson and Nona A. Simpson (Middleton); his daughter Glenell Knipple; and his brother Paul Simpson. He is survived by: his children, Walter Alan Simpson (Carol) of Oklahoma City and Angela Griffith of Choctaw; and his brother Stan Simpson of Virginia. He is also survived by three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Joe's name to the Good Neighbor Project.
