He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Gilbert and Pauline Gilbert (Muchinine); his brother Frank Paul (Franky); and his children, Guinda Sue and John Elmer Jr..
He is survived by: his wife Bernedette Gaumer; his daughters, Tonya Louise Speerli and Dominique LeVoy; and his stepdaughter Sarah Caruth (Christopher). He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
