He was predeceased by: his parents, John Pope and JoAnn Pope (Sally); his brother Howard Pope; his brothers-in-law, C. A. Dunafan and Gary Gehring; his nephews, Rodrick "Bosco" Pope and Elijah Yellseagle; and his great-nephew Alex Davison Jr..
He is survived by: his daughter Whitney Pope (Harold Meashintubby Jr.) of McAlester; his grandchildren, Raigen Leflore (Ian) of Fort Gibson, Raina, Boog and Noah Meashintubby of McAlester; and his siblings, John Pope Jr., Reba of McAlester, Edwina Gehring of McAlester, Barbara Lann, Jim of Cushing, Karen Yellseagle of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, Lora "Boo" Dunafan of Hartshorne, Oklahoma and Lindsy "Jo" Moody of Hartshorne, Oklahoma. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home (528 S 3rd St, McAlester, OK 74501). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
