He was predeceased by: his brother Jimmy Ray Thomas; his grandparents, Samuel Evans Thomas Jr., Maggie Lorene "Vannoy" Thomas, Johnnie Martin Murdock and Beulah Oleta "Kersh" Murdock; his aunt Cathelene Lousie Thomas; and his uncle W. A. Bird.

He is survived by: his parents, Homer William and June Ann Murdock Thomas; his sister Debra Ann Thomas-Owen; his siblings-in-law, Hank Thomas Owens and Kelly Thomas; and his nephews, Douglas McBride Thomas, Samuel Murdock Thomas, Kaleb Thomas Owens, Joshua Martin Owens and Matthew William Owens.
