He was predeceased by: his son Paul K. Avant Jr.; and his brothers, Harold Avant, Dee Avant and Jack Avant. He is survived by: his wife Loraine; his daughter Patricia Crossland of Loveland; his son-in-law Dale Crossland of Loveland; and his grandchildren, Shawnta Sheppard of Wichita Falls, Amanda Smith of Burkburnett, Justin Avant of Fredrick and Ashliegh Lewis of Burkburnett. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
