He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dorothy Lee Thornburg and James Othur Thornburg; his wife Sharon Thornburg; his son Richard Thornburg Jr.; his granddaughter Kayla Thornburg; his siblings, James "Joe" Thornburg, Joann Thornburg, George Allen Thornburg, Marion "Pinky" Thornburg, Roy Wayne Thornburg, Jimmy Dale Thornburg, Sandra Lee Nye and Bobby "Corky" Anderson; his friend Jackie Pettijohn; his children, Roy Thornburg (Rhonda) and Barbara Johnson (Tracy); his daughter-in-law Ronda Sanders (Scotty); his grandchildren, Nick Johnson (Heather), Bryson Johnson, Britanee Thornburg, Logan Proctor, Devin Thornburg (Jessica), Dawson Thornburg, Richard Thornburg III (Robyn) and Brandon Thornburg (Amy); his brother Garland Thornburg; his wife's children, Danny Farmer, Logan Farmer (Linda), Daylan Farmer (Whitney), Allyson Cowley (Jacob), Jake Farmer, Rick Farmer Sr. and Cassidy Mercer (Josh); his friends, Don Bailey, Dennis Morgan and Daniel Dyrcz; and also Sherri Melton (Willie). He was also cherished by his great grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews.
