He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Edwin Schmieding, Sr. and Constance Schmieding (Melvin); his wife Barbara J. Gard; and his granddaughter Heather Harstad. He is survived by: his children, Walter Edwin Schmieding, III of Texas, Gary Schmieding of Lawton and Dorrie Harstad (Terry) of Lawton; and his grandchildren, Jeremy Schmieding (Laura), Dustin Schmieding (Maghan) of Wilbraham, Jonathan Schmieding of Stüttgart, Morgan Oetken (Keith) of Lawton, Whitney Powell (Daren) of Lawton and Brandon Harstad (Alexis) of Lawton. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, and other family members.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Dayspring Community Church (8612 NW Cache Rd, Lawton, OK 73505).
