He was predeceased by: his parents, Loyed Newton and Peggy Estaleen Nickell (Tongkeamha); his brothers, Boyd Nickell, Terrell Nickell, Mickey Nickell, Frank Jim Tongkeamha, Sr. and Harold Johnson, Jr.; and his grandparents, George, Gertrude Nickell, Frank Jim and Minnie Tongkeamha (Maunkee).
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Nickell; his children, Mark Sutton of Colorado, Jimmy Ray, Cindy Nickell of Elgin, Michelle Kaopuiki of Maui, Hawai'i and Lisa Nickell of Lawton; his grandchildren, Kathryn Sutton, Elizabeth Sutton of Colorado, Chloé Ugalino, Reece Ugalino of Maui, Hawai'i, Damion Rodriguez of Texas, Ashlee Nickell and Braydon Nickell of Lawton; his great grandchildren, Mya Nickell-Dixon, Remy-Lee Nickell-Short, Bently Nickell of Lawton, Gio Rodriguez of Texas and Mila Chavez of Colorado; and his siblings, Floyd Nickell, Lloyd Nickell, Shirley Nickell, Rosie Wooten, Theresa Martinez, Sharon Nickell-Marcotte and Eddie Heminokey. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends.
The inurnment was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:15 PM at the Fort Sill National Cemetery (2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd, Elgin, OK 73538).
