With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard L. Kaufmann in Lawton, Oklahoma, born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who passed away on March 25, 2025 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Richard had on those he encountered along his journey. Though Richard may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Kaufmann and Mildred Kaufmann (Ross); his son Timothy Brian Kaufmann; his stepson Michael Watson; and his siblings, Henry J. Kaufmann, Eileen and Doris Kaufmann.
He is survived by: his wife Opal Juanita Creel; his sons, Richard Lane Kaufmann, Jr. (Bonnie) of Hillsborough and Daniel Joseph Kaufmann of Gillette; and his stepson Christopher Watson (Marie) of Buffalo. He is also survived by his family, friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Service (415 W Main St, Marlow, OK 73055). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church (202 N SIxth St, Marlow, OK 73055).
