He was predeceased by: his father James Calvin Sr.; his son-in-law Frank Russell; and his sisters, Vera Vasek and Maxine Nylin. He is survived by: his wife Fern Louise Neal; his children, James Calvin Neal III (Kathy) of Purcell, Larry Russell Neal (Brenda) of Ninnekah and Anna Neal Russell of Marlow; and his brother Kay Neal (Betty) of Cleburn, TX.. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Garland Smith Public Library in Marlow or the Ahlzeimers Associations in James's honor.
