He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Phillips and Mary Phillips (Woodward); his brothers, Eugene, Ernest, Elmer, Eddie and Earl; and his former wife Dennie Duval Ashby.
He is survived by: his wife Teresa Lubrano of Lawton; and his daughter Denniece Phillips (John Frank Phillips) of Norman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations in his name to the McMahon-Tomlinson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Comanche County Memorial Hospital Hospice or the Cameron University Department of Communications, English, and Foreign Languages.
