She was predeceased by: her parents, Eddie Black and Bessie Jefferson Black; her husband John J. White; her son John Joseph Jr.; her brothers, Marvin Black, Melvin Black and Jack Black; and her grandsons, Sean Gray and Blaine White. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren.
