He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Eugene Ryans, Sr. and Barbara Ryans; his sister Judy Ann Ryans; his father-in-law Tony Russell; and his nephew Kody Bressman.

He is survived by: his children, Chevy Don Ryans (Adrianna), Blakely Michelle Ryans and Brittyn Leigh Ryans; his grandchildren, Emerson Jean and Eliot Eugene Ryans; his siblings, Donna Caldwell, Pam (Larry Sallee), Sheila (Chris Medcalf) and Stevie Ryans (Barbara); and his sister-in-law Jan Russell Bressman (Billy).

Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Museum of the Great Plains.
